10 Million BGN Have Been Invested in the Rehabilitation of Road II-86 Chepelare-Sokolovtsi, Which Goes through the Rozhen Pass

Chepelare_Sokolovci_3.JPGThe Rehabilitation of 14 km from Road II-86 Chepelare - Sokolovtsi has been completed. Over 10 million BGN have been invested in the repair works of the road section from km 80+200 to km 94+372.44, which goes through one of the most beautiful passages in the Rhodopes Mountain – the Rozhen Pass, announced Nikolina Chapanova, Director of Projects’ Implementation under OPRD and EU Territorial Cooperation Programmes Directorate in RIA. The project is funded under the European Territorial Cooperation Programme Greece – Bulgaria 2007-2013.

 


The heavy traffic goes over the second class road Chepelare – Sokolovtsi, travelling between Smolyan and Plovdiv districts from municipalities of Smolyan, Rudozem, Madan, Nedelino and Banite. The road section provides the connection with both Pamporovo resort and the future BCCP Rudozem-Xanti. New asphalt covering has been laid on the site, the road drainage system has been improved, new retaining and supporting walls have been constructed and new steel railings have been mounted. The road section also has new horizontal marking and vertical signaling, reported Eng. Hristo Petrov, Head of Coordination and implementation of EU Territorial Cooperation Programmes Department.

The construction contractor of the site is Consortium “SOKOLOVTSI 2013”, in which the following companies participate: “Integrated road systems” JSC and “Infrastructural company” JSC. The contract for the construction works amounts to 9.778.037, 43 BGN, VAT included. The construction supervision is performed by “Egis Bulgaria” JSC.

The Rehabilitation of Road II-86 from km 80+200 to km 94+372.44 is part of the project “Developing quality accessibility networks for creating a common future” /AccessNet/ financed under the European Territorial Cooperation Programme Greece – Bulgaria 2007-2013. The Programme is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (85%) and the national budgets of Greece and Bulgaria (15%). The Lead Partner is Egnatia Odos, Greece. Road Infrastructure Agency is a project partner on Bulgarian side.
