The “Dolna Dikanya – Junction Dupnitca North” Section Of Struma Motorway Has Been Opened For Traffic

P7234686.JPGThe “Dolna Dikanya – junction Dupnitca North” section (from km 305+220 to km 319+200) of Struma motorway has been opened for traffic. The project is co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund and the state budget under Operational Programme on Transport 2007-2013.

The official ceremony for opening the motorway was attended by the Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency Lazar Lazarov and the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Petar Kirov.


 

With the opening of the motorway section from Dolna Dikanya to Dupnitca North road junction of Lot 1 of Struma motorway the travel time will be reduced by about 30 minutes at peak times, Minister Terzieva said.

I wish that this motorway be safe for all who use it, engineer Lazarov added.

         The total length of Lot 1 “Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitca” (from km 305+220 to km 322+000) is 16,78 km. On 23 July 13,98 km of the section and two road links „Sofia – Dupnitca“ and „Dupnitca – Sofia“ were opened for traffic. The remaining 2,8 км of Lot 1 (from km 319 + 200 to km 322 + 000) will be put in operation till the end of August 2013. According to the contract the term for completion of the site is 1 September 2013 but the completed section was opened before the appointed time in order to facilitate the traffic in direction to Kulata

         Contractor of the construction and installation works is Struma 1 consortium. The contract value is 70 240 800 BGN, VAT included. The construction supervision is fulfilled by DZZD „Infrastructura Magistralni Patishta”. The supervision contract is in the amount of 323 280 BGN, VAT included.

         The Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitca section runs through the territories of two municipalities – Radomir and Dupnitca. There are 18 large structures within the section – 4 bridges, 7 underpasses, 6 overpasses and 1 viaduct.

         The total length of Struma motorway from Daskalovo to the Greek border is 150 km. It is part of Pan-European Transport Corridor ІV and of the Trans-European North – South Motorway. The construction of 68,5 km – Lot 1 “Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitca” (16,78 km), Lot 2 “Dupnitca – Blagoevgrad” (about 37 km), and Lot 4 “Sandanski – Kulata” (14,7 km) is financed under Operational Programme on Transport 2007- 2013.

         From today the maximal speed on Lot 0 of Struma motorway in the area of Daskalovo road junction – Dolna Dikanya section and the newly opened section of Lot 1 is 120 km/h.
