Struma Motorway Section Sandanski - Kulata Should be Completed on August 1st

Lazar Lazarov, checked up the progress of the construction activities of Lot 4 Sandanski – Kulata of Struma motorway from km 423+800 to km 438+500 and of Lot 2 Dupnitsa - Blagoevgrad from km 322+000 to km 359+483.52.


 

The term for the completion of the nearly 15-kilometer section from Sandanski to Kulata is the end of July this year and of Dupnitsa - Blagoevgrad (37 km) - October 2015.

I find the section from Sandanski to Kulata in the same condition as I left it a year and a half ago. I expect from the constructors maximal mobilization and that Lot 4 should be completed within the term fixed, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov stated. Work is done for 24 hours along the entire route and the section will be completed up to 1 August, a representative of the Contractor emphasized before the Prime Minister. The objective is that the last kilometers of Struma motorway should be commissioned as soon as possible and that the traffic should be taken out of the villages of Marikostinovo, Chuchuligovo and Kulata. Work will be done at accelerated rates also for the construction of a 4-lane road to the Border Control Point, which is 2-lane at the moment, to facilitate the road transport to Greece in summer so that there should not be any traffic jams at the border.

AKTOR ASD – Greece is the Contractor of the construction and assembly works of Lot 4. The value of the Contract is BGN 67 176 000,00 inclusive of VAT. The construction supervision is exercised by Patinvest-Engineering JSC. Their Contract is in the amount of BGN 356 419,20 inclusive of VAT. The author’s supervision is exercised by Rutex LTD, Patproject LTD and Transconsult-22 LTD.

The Prime Minister, Minister Pavlova and eng. Lazarov inspected also the construction of Lot 2 – the section from Dupnitsa to Blagoevgrad. There are 4 road junctions at the site: „Dupnitsa-South” (with road II-62), „Boboshevo” (with road III-104), „Kocherinovo” and „Blagoevgrad” (with road III-106), as well as two tunnels on the territory of the region of Kyustendil.

At the moment work is done for the execution of the small- and big-sized structures as well as of the tunnels beside the villages of Blatino and Kocherinovo. Asphalt works are also executed under appropriate meteorological conditions.

The constructor of Lot 2 is CONSORTIUM „STRUMA-LOT 2”, which the following participate in: „Impresa” SpA, Italy, „GBS Infrastructure Construction” JSC, Bulgaria, and „Patstroy – 92” JSC, Bulgaria. The value of the Contract is BGN 358 722 000.00 inclusive of VAT. The construction supervision is exercised by DZZD (Company under the Obligations and Contracts Act) „ASSOCIATION STRUMA-PP“, which the following participate in: „Patinvestengineering” JSC and „Patproject” LTD – city of Sofia. Their Contract in the amount of BGN 2 949 843.00 inclusive of VAT.

The total length of Struma motorway – from Daskalovo to the Greek border is 150 km. A total of 68.5 km funded by Operational Program „Transport“ 2007-2013 are under construction. Lot 1 Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa (16,78 km) is completed and Lot 2 Dupnitsa – Blagoevgrad (37,4 km) and Lot 4 Sandanski – Kulata (14,7 km) are under construction. Struma motorway is a part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor No IV and of the Trans-European North – South Motorway. The road traffic to Greece is performed along it.

The Project is cо­-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund and the national budget under Operational Program Transport 2007-2013.
