The Trip from Dimitrovgrad to Border Control Checkpoint Kapitan Andreevo Is Already along a Motorway
The new right-hand carriageway of Maritsa motorway between Svilengrad and Kapitan Andreevo – from km 99+820 to km 108+510 is already open for traffic. The total length of the section is 8,6 km. The project was implemented by funds from the national budget under New Construction Program of the Road Infrastructure Agency. The investment into the right-hand carriageway is in the amount of nearly BGN 28 million. By its commissioning the trip from Dimitrovgrad to BCCP Kapitan Andreevo is already implemented along a motorway.
The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova handed in to the Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency eng. Lazar Lazarov the Permit for Use of the section. At Svilengrad road junction Father Konstantin blessed with holy water for health and flawless traveling along the new section. The 35-year construction of the Project has been completed today. I do hope that this shall be the end also of the long transition period, Minister Pavlova said. A TIR truck with registration from the region of Plovdiv was the first motor vehicle that passed along the new right-hand carriageway a few minutes after the blessing with holy water.
The left-hand carriageway of Maritsa motorway from the 99th to the 108th kilometer was built up during the 80’s. The construction of the right-hand carriageway began in year 2013 after the Government had provided funds for the start-up of the construction and assembly works. There are 6 agricultural underpasses, 2 overpasses and a bridge over the Kanakliyska River within the section. The overpass at km 102+550 provides for the conflict-free intersection of Maritsa motorway with road Svilengrad – Pastrogor and the structure at km 103+832 – with the road Svilengrad – Levka.
The Contractor of the Project is „PST Group” EAD („Patni Stroezhi”, Plovdiv and „PST Holding” EAD). The construction supervision is exercised by „Patinvestengineering” EOOD, and the author’s supervision is exercised by „Patproekt” EOOD.
Maritsa motorway is along the Trans-European Transport Network and shall connect Trakia motorway at road junction Orizovo with Kapitan Andreevo at the Bulgarian-Turkish border. It is a part of Pan-European Transport Corridor No IV and of Trans-European North-South Motorway. The total length of Maritza motorway from the connection with Trakia motorway to Border Control Checkpoint Kapitan Andreevo is about 117 km.
