Bulgaria Boulevard in Zlatograd Is Completely Renovated
Bulgaria Boulevard in Zlatograd is completely renovated. The rehabilitated section is 4.34 km long and it is a part of the National Road III-867 Madan – Zlatograd – Benkovski from km 28+135 to km 32+478. The section is positioned between the western exit of the town and the beginning of the Industrial Zone. The third-class road is the main connection of Zlatograd with the surrounding populated areas and with the neighboring Municipalities – Madan, Nedelino and Kirkovo. It provides the connection between Road II-86 Rudozem – Smolyan – Asenovgrad and Road I-5 Kurdzhali - Makaza.
New layers of non-dense and dense asphalt concrete are laid, as well as horizontal marking, during the project implementation, the road signs are replaced, new curbs, sidewalks and a storm-water sewerage system are built up. The three-way junction at Bulgaria Blvd. and Khan Presiyan Str. is reconstructed into a roundabout.
The access of the Municipality of Zlatograd residents to administrative, health care, educational and cultural services is improved by the reconstruction of Road III-867, as well as the connection with border control check point (BCCP) Zlatograd - Thermes - Xanthi. The appearance of Zlatograd is renewed with the overhaul of the central boulevard, the safety and convenience of travel are increased.
The contractor of the construction works is “PST Group” JSC (Joint-Stock Company). The contract is for 3 329 154.95 BGN (1.702.196,01 Euro), inclusive of VAT.
The construction supervision is exercised by “Eco Bul” DZZD (Company under the Obligations and Contracts Act), wherein participate: “Ecoengineering” LTD. (Limited Liability Company) and “Bul Stroy Control Engineering” JSC (Joint Stock Company). The contract is for 35 760 BGN (18.284,08 Euro), inclusive of VAT.
The reconstruction of Road III-867 is part of project “Developing quality accessibility networks for creating a common future”, with acronym AccessNet, financed under the European Territorial Cooperation Programme Greece – Bulgaria 2007-2013. The Programme is cо-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (85%) and the national budgets (15%).
