To increase traffic safety in the summer, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the most intense traffic hours, movement on motorways of trucks over 12 t will be stopped. The aim is on weekends during the active tourist season, when many car drivers are on their way, to improve road safety and throughput of the road infrastructure.

Between 220 and BGN 240 million BGN are needed for repair of 45 km road carriageway, tunnels and viaducts on Hemus Motorway. The funds will be allocated at stages to ensure the safety and security of road users. This was announced today by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Nikolay Nankov, who together with the Chair of the Road Infrastructure Agency, Eng. Doncho Atanasov, has carried out an inspection of the repair of the right tube of Echemiska Tunnel on the motorway.

The opened price offers for elaboration of detailed design and construction of 16,3 km of Hemus motorway – the section between Belokopitovo and Buhovtsi road junctions in direction to Targovishte, are 4. The construction of the motorway section will be funded by the state budget. The indicative value of the public procurement is in the amount of 133 mln. BGN, VAT exluded.
